What’s happening in Our World of Food and Does it Matter?!

September 8, 2021

The A. Jean de Grandpré Distinguished Speaker Series is named in honour of McGill’s Chancellor Emeritus, M. de Grandpré who served as Chancellor from 1984-1991 and was a long-standing member of the Board of Governors. An astute and visionary administrator, he brought these skills, together with his wisdom, clarity of thought, and persuasive logic, to the highest levels of leadership at McGill University.

Dean Anja Geitmann welcomes our speaker David Hughes, Emeritus Professor of Food Marketing at Imperial College London, and Visiting Professor at the Royal Agricultural University, U.K. As “Dr. Food”, he is a much sought-after speaker at international conferences and seminars on global food industry issues, particularly consumer and retail trends.

Professor Hughes will speak to the impact of various issues on the food industry; climate change, COVID-19, plant-based foods; as well the implications for food producers on the increasing social considerations that consumers take into account when buying and eating food.
The Q&A section will be moderated by students in the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences.
