Suzanne Smith

Suzanne has worked at McGill for nearly 40 years – an incredible accomplishment in itself. Perhaps more amazing is what happens if you ask Suzanne about her job as head of Research and Innovation’s Animal Compliance Office. Her eyes light up. She tells you about all the amazing research she supports and her fantastic colleagues, both in the office and on external review boards. Few people at McGill believe so deeply in the University’s mission, and probably even fewer wake up as motivated to make a difference in the world of research.

She is also a truly exceptional administrator. She approaches all issues objectively, yet with sensitivity, and she has never shied away from making a hard decision. Her team loves her! She is a true leader at McGill.
