The McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship

Founded in 1988 by the late John Dobson, BCom’49, the McGill Dobson Centre for Entrepreneurship was launched as a nexus for McGill entrepreneurs and innovators.

With a mandate to support entrepreneurs at the University as they “build innovative companies with social purpose,” the Centre has empowered countless students through its Dobson Cup competitions. The Centre also provides award opportunities to young members of the McGill community, such as the AvMor Prize for Social Responsibility and the Steven Pal Family Award. As of 2020, the Centre had helped to launch 409 active startups employing nearly 6,000 people.
