Lorne M. Trottier Building

Located within Tomlinson Square, the Lorne M. Trottier Building is situated on the northeast flank of the McGill campus between the Strathcona and Rutherford buildings. Construction incorporated the strategic layering of stone, metal and glass to create a visibly profound façade, and to encourage natural light in workspaces.

Engineering graduate and co-founder of Montreal-based high-tech video graphics company Matrox Electronic Systems, Lorne Trottier, BEng’70, MEng’73, DSc’06, donated funding to build a facility dedicated to teaching and research in information technology. Along with government funding and other private donations, his donation enabled the construction of this facility.
